Bitcoin Lawsuit

Bitcoin proponent Andreas Antonopoulos has revealed that he will be one of the sole testifiers in a case worth billions of dollars involving Bitcoin.

Stating on Monday, the Bitcoin evangelist, as he is fondly called as intimated the role he will be playing when the case finally gets to court. Notably, the case is a very high profile case involving two high profile individuals ‘Wright v. Kleiman’ and Antonopoulos has noted that he will be ‘testifying at trial’ when the time eventually comes. This development is coming off the back of the previous motion submitted by Craig Wright’s legal team to exclude Antonopoulus from testifying.

Defendant made moves to strike out experts ruling

In what has been a protracted legal battle, the court case between Kleiman v. Wright looks to continue in 2021 as April 2021 has been earmarked for the next hearing. Another thing is that the legal battle might still go farther when considering the coronavirus pandemic’s situation.

However, the court has mentioned that it is making headway as there has been deliberation over using the testimonies from experts or not. It looks as though the court finally decided to allow an expert opinion as the Bitcoin evangelist is set to testify after he mentioned it on Twitter.

In his tweet, Anotnopoulus mentioned that the federal court holding the Kleiman v. Wright case had informed him that he would take the stand at the next hearing as an expert witness. According to Antonopoulos’ tweet, even though there were moves to strike him and his fellow experts that were supposed to take the stand out, the court has affirmed their status as expert witnesses.

“In this regard, I, alongside other experts, will be giving our expert verdict and testimony when the case goes to court in April 2021 as expert witnesses,” Antonopoulos said.

Court to restrict certain testimonies at the trial

In the copy of the court filing that was obtained by the media, it showed that the legal team of the defendant, Craig Wright made moves in a bid to excuse the opinions of the experts that were scheduled to take the stand. Gordon Klein, Stefan Boedeker, and others. In his view about the upcoming expert’s verdict, the Judge expected to preside over the lawsuit has mentioned that they will have to restrict some expert’s testimony when the trial comes to court.

A typical example is the role that Antonopoulos will play when the case goes to court. According to the records, Antonopoulos will only be allowed to talk about the communications sent by Bitcoins founder, Satoshi Nakamoto. According to the court reading, it has seen that the communications that were sent by Satoshi Nakamoto are very crucial to this case.
