NFT Of Steve Jobs’ Birkenstock sandals

Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, just had one of his belongings digitized as an NFT. The aforementioned Birkenstock sandals were worn by the Apple CEO multiple times during business hours and were therefore digitized as an NFT. The NFT associated with the sandals sold for a sum of $218,000.

According to Julien’s Auctions, these shoes were worn on several important occasions, and to commemorate these occasions, an NFT was created out of these sandals. With a unique 1-1 digital representation, this NFT was deployed on the Polygon blockchain network. However, the terms and conditions of this sale and purchase prohibit the owner from having ownership rights to these sandals and profiting from them.

During the auction, bids ranging from $16,000 to $19,000 were placed on the table, with a total of 19 bids auctioned at this sandal. An unknown bidder, however, paid a total of $218,000 for these sandals.

Backstory Of The Sandals

According to Julien, Jobs inherited these sandals from his house tender, Mark Sheff, in the 1970s.

Mark Sheff, on the other hand, developed a habit of sorting and keeping Job’s belongings when he threw them away, because Job only kept a few belongings.

Furthermore, the origins of these historic sandals can be traced back to the early days of Apple. According to the Auction houses, back in 1976, during the formation of Apple, which began in a garage, Jobs and Co-founder of Apple, Steve Wozniak would wear these same sandals while working.

Chrisann Brennan, Job’s ex-partner, told Vogue, the fashion magazine, that these sandals had become part of Jobs’ uniform, and he wore them whenever he worked. She went on to say that the sandals represented his preference for simplicity and practicality over flamboyance.

This sale of Jobs sandals adds to the growing list of NFT collections of top personnel across the country.

From the digitization of Jack Dorsey, former CEO of Twitter tweets, to an NFT of Whitney Houston’s estate, to an NFT of top shot moments in basketball, to Snoop Dog releasing an NFT collection of an EP; NFTs have been seeping into the global world.
