Magic Eden Addresses Pornographic Display Situation; Blames Third-party Breach

A scandalous attempt was made on the Magic Eden Solana marketplace, showing explicit pornographic content on the marketplace. Magic Eden reported that their cache filter had been hacked.

Adult Content On Magic Eden?

Magic Eden is currently defending itself against the explicit photographs of adult pornography shown on their website, saying that the images were obtained from a compromised image supplier.

Many users saw and identified these graphics as being lifted from a TV show.

Instead of the regular NFT collections, these photographs were featured on the platform’s website.

Magic Eden clarified the situation, stating that the nudity display was caused by a hacked and compromised third-party image provider that was under cyberattack.

Magic Eden stated that the marketplace was not under cyberattack and informed users that all funds and NFTs on the platform were safe, secure, and unaffected by the incident.

This announcement came shortly after people on Twitter asked the marketplace to clarify what was going on with their platform.

Some of the tweets asked other users if they had seen these nude displays when attempting to upload their NFTs to the platform.

Hackers Now Targeting NFT Marketplaces

Magic Eden advised viewers who saw these images to try refreshing their browsers again to wipe away the displayed images and view the original NFT collection put up by investors. However, at the time of publication, this problem has been resolved.

Magic Eden went on to clarify the situation., stating that a service they used to process their cached photos had been hijacked, and this glitch had also transferred to the marketplace, displaying all of those images.

Although this mistake did not result in theft or losses, it is crucial to highlight that hackers are now targeting NFTs, marketplaces, and exchanges.

In 2022, the crypto industry witnessed a series of wallet attacks on the NFT platform, ranging from compromised wallets during minting to sending of malicious links to wipe out users’ assets when connected to an NFT site.

OpenSea was a victim of one of the hacks, with the marketplace losing millions of dollars as a result of the tragic scenario.
