ETH’s main developer, Tim Beiko, has officially announced the latest positive development. In his statement, he clarified that Sepolia Shapella’s upgrade is set for an upgrade. According to his description, Sepolia is the first of its kind. It is the first longest public testnets, and is set to undergo an upgrade on the 28th of February.

The ETH Foundation’s official statement, made public via a blog post, announced that Shapella, part of the Shanghai + Capella mainnet upgrade, had been scheduled for the last pre-launch series. One of the things the public should expect from this upgrade is that it will come with public testnets.

From the information made available to the public, Capella was defined as a consensus layer augmentation that contains many features connected to a validator withdrawal system. In this system, the funds are the validators, and they are said to make up the entire Shapella augmentation system. As of the time of this report, the Zhejiang testnet is already active and very much accessible for stakers on Shapella.

A statement by the foundation made available on the blog revealed that a validator balance of more than 32 ETH would be made available for any minor withdrawal. Meanwhile, the exited validators can only be available for users who wish to make a complete withdrawal. It was also stated that should things go as planned; the company may also be working on releasing another testnet by the middle of March.

By that time, it is also expected that another upgrade may also happen towards the end of March or early April. Even with all these serial upgrades, they also made it clear that the dates may differ; hence, a final date has yet to be determined.

The statement also further stated that the date for the mainnet has a lot to do with the outcome of testnet forks. The spokesperson for the foundation explained that the reason for the long duration is because of the bug extraction process. According to him, each time they find a bug, the process will be delayed until it is fixed.
