Sam Blackshear, Sui CTO, Criticizes Aptos Network Team
Sui Network’s Chief Technical Officer (CTO), Sam Blackshear, startled the industry by criticizing Aptos Network for pressuring Pontem Network to exclude key speakers and organizations from the forthcoming MoveConLive event.
The community hosts a conference called MoveConLive to promote the Move programming language, which was developed by Facebook’s Diem Association and is not tied to any specific blockchain. On Twitter, Blackshear chastised Aptos Network for pressuring Pontem Network to remove Tylor Nowacki, Damir Khamidullin, and Shayan Sanjideh as conference speakers.
Aptos Network’s Partnership Purge
Significantly, the Sui Foundation was removed from Aptos Network’s list of partner organizations. Blackshear, Nowacki, and Khamidullin are “Move OGs” who contributed substantially to the Move language and had much to share with the community during the conference.
Moreover, Blackshear emphasized that Move is a multi-chain language owned by the community and that being open-minded and interested in everyone in the Move community’s expertise and experience is critical. Finally, he asked people to “promote peace and unity,” claiming that a language war is terrible for everyone.
Additionally, in reaction to Blackshear’s criticism of Aptos Network’s actions, numerous Move community members have supported his viewpoint. Others have even requested that no one attend MoveConLive. Others have pointed out that there might be more to the story, and evaluating all points of view is essential before reaching a conclusion.
Nevertheless, whether Aptos Network pressured Pontem Network to eliminate speakers and groups from the event is still determined. The organizers of MoveConLive have yet to reply to inquiries regarding the issue. Yet, Blackshear’s views emphasize the need for diversity and cooperation in developing blockchain programming languages like Move.
