El Salvador Launching Bitcoin Diploma Program on Open-Source Platforms

As El Salvador seeks to position itself as the leading crypto hub, the government has stepped up to onboard more users to the digital world. In a recent report, the El Salvador Bitcoin education project, known as Mi Primer Bitcoin, launched a new project, the Bitcoin Diploma program.

The newly launched Bitcoin education initiative will be on the open-source platform to reach a larger audience. The new program will support the Mi Primer project to promote financial literacy in the crypto-friendly state.

El Salvador Launches New Bitcoin Education Initiative

Based on the diverse financial need, the team behind Mi Primer teamed up with Bitcoin educators and investors to develop a comprehensive syllabus for teaching the fundamental principles of crypto and blockchain

The new curriculum will equip learners with skills crucial for trading crypto assets. Beyond this, the Bitcoin Diploma program will discuss the features of Bitcoin and its history and revisit past and present developments within the crypto ecosystem.

With crypto’s growing popularity, the new education program will equip learners with valuable insights into the application of crypto in various industries. Reports indicate that the new program will revisit multiple technical developments in the crypto industry.

Even though Mi Primer has existed since 2021, the new Bitcoin Diploma program will be centered on an open-source platform to allow the learners to access the learning materials at zero cost.

The team behind the new program confirmed that the Bitcoin Diploma program and resources like student workbooks will be readily available on GitHub. The open-source nature of the new platform will encourage scholars across the globe to share their valuable inputs about the program.

Significance of Bitcoin Education

According to the announcement, the program will be open for strategic partnership with learning institutions and crypto investors to attain the Bitcoin Diploma objective. The new program anticipates that more opportunities, such as translation, will be available in the future.

A statement from the founder of Mi Primer, John Dennehy, revealed that Bitcoin education is a powerful tool that will bring positive change to society. The executive argued that Bitcoin education will foster creativity and innovation.

He believes the newly launched Bitcoin Diploma program will promote financial literacy in El Salvador. With the recent upgrade on Mi Primer Bitcoin, Dennehy believes that the new curriculum marks a significant step toward empowering the community.

Commenting on the curriculum upgrades, the executive confirmed that the Mi Primer team plans to improve the content and develop an improved edition of Bitcoin education.

To attain the end plans, Dennehy and his team plan to leverage the power of advanced technology to develop learning infrastructures that are easy to use in the local context. The executive added that the advanced Bitcoin curriculum consists of well-organized infrastructures for communication and learning.

El Salvador Explore Ways to Promote Financial Literacy

Dehenny stated that the new Bitcoin education program will allow learners to translate the content into around 26 languages. Initially, the Mi Primer Bitcoin was only available in 9 languages.

In September 2023, the El Salvador government sealed a partnership agreement with Mi Primer Bitcoin to introduce Bitcoin education to public schools. Under the partnership agreement, the two agreed to introduce Bitcoin education to 75 public schools in 2024.

To ensure Bitcoin education attains the desired result, the Mi Primer, in collaboration with President Bukele’s administration, will equip 150 public school teachers with basic knowledge of Bitcoin before the program’s launch.

After Bitcoin training, the teachers will be tasked to embrace the new curriculum developed by the El Salvador Ministry of Education. This curriculum will guide the teacher in teaching Bitcoin education. The ministry plans to conduct pilot trials in a few schools to examine the success of the new curriculum.

At present, over 25,000 students have completed the Bitcoin diploma courses. In most cases, the candidates enrolled in Bitcoin education received their academic credentials and graduated.
