VeChain Develops A Blockchain-enabled Medical Data Management Platform “The E-NewHealthLife”

The E-NewHealthLife

The COVID-19 pandemic is continuously affecting human life worldwide with over 4.6 million people have been infected and the death tally has even crossed above 300 thousand and the number is still increasing. With an increasing number of patient admissions, hospitals around the whole world are facing issues with managing healthcare data. VeChain Foundation has moved a step forward to help hospitals deal with the problems of the management of healthcare data by using blockchain technology-powered solutions. VeChain has therefore introduced a blockchain technology-powered new medical data management platform known as The E-NewHealthLife by collaborating together with I-Dante the digital healthcare solutions company.

The E-NewHealthLife app uses an encrypted NFC card

According to a report, this blockchain-enabled application makes use of the Digital Healthcare Passport which is basically an encrypted NFC card. These NFC cards are given to patients of hospitals and they can be identified automatically in the presence of these cards at the Emergency Room registration desk when they check in. With the help of the NFC Cards, patients will also be able to “check their queue on mobile phone, manage their own medical records safely with the E-NewHealthLife Web App, and share their data securely with the hospital.”

VeChain app will address technical issues in the healthcare sector

According to the VeChain Foundation, the basic purpose of this Distributed Ledger Technology-based application is to address the major technical issues found in the healthcare sector and to help hospitals’ management team to manage the healthcare data within that specific sector.

“Blockchain is being posited as the next frontier in healthcare that will help solve some of the industry’s interoperability challenges. Instead of relying on health information exchanges or other ways to aggregate data, the blockchain technology is capable of eliminating the middleman and accessing patient databases on a large, population scale.”

The E-NewHealthLife app is currently being used in the Emergency Department of Cyprus’ one of the largest healthcare institutions, the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus which is utilizing its functionality to solve the problems of management and other technical issues.
