Amazon is one of the largest e-commerce companies in the world. Recently the company has posted a new job opening that is looking to hire Digital Currency and Blockchain Project Manager. The company has a reputation for adopting the latest innovations in the industry. With the blockchain-based payment systems gaining more popularity, Amazon does not want to miss out.

The job posting announced by Amazon last Thursday is looking for a person who has experience with payment acceptance to lead a team. The job also asks the new employee to work on developing a new Amazon digital currency and roadmap. The new team leader will work in tandem with Amazon management as well as AWS or Amazon WebServices to construct a new roadmap.

Business Insider Claims that Amazon is Planning to Enter the Crypto Sector

A new email shared by Business Insider claims that Amazon management is eager to get started with their cryptocurrency debut. At present, it is not clear if the e-commerce giant is planning to issue a native token or plans to work on building channels for crypto payment acceptance. The email reads that Amazon believes that blockchain projects will mold the future of payment.

The candidate who could apply at Amazon is required to have an MBA plus ten years of experience working on business technology development projects. The job also calls for having an understanding of data and metrics alongside communication skills. The candidate is required to move to Seattle in Washington to serve their tenure. It seems that Amazon is insistent on finding better solutions for financial transactions across the globe.

The cryptocurrency interest is nothing new for Amazon investors. AWS has previously invested in domains like amazoncryptocurrency.com, amazonethereum.com, and amazoncryptocurrencies.com. However, the VP Patrick Gauthier told CNBC in the past that the company had no interest in using or working on any blockchain projects. There were projects like Pay with Moon that allowed Bitcoin payments on Amazon. After failed negotiations with Amazon management, the business had to change its service and offer virtual credit cards to shoppers. At the start of 2021, Amazon posted another similar job that called for a Digital and Emerging Payments Expert. At the same time, it was not made clear whether the position had any link with Bitcoin or any other crypto projects.
