Arizona State University and OpenAI Collaborate to Implement ChatGPT

A collaboration between Arizona State University and OpenAI will incorporate ChatGPT Enterprise for staff and faculty to evaluate innovative artificial intelligence applications for student research and success.

Arizona State University (ASU), a leading research university in the U.S., and OpenAI, an artificial intelligence (AI) developer, have revealed a new partnership to enact ChatGPT enterprise in higher education.

The January 18 statement makes the university the first institution of higher education to partner with OpenAI. Starting next month, its staff and faculty will submit proposals explaining how the technology can be utilized innovatively.

ASU Prioritizes AI Integration in Restructuring Organizational Processes and Research Avenues

ASU’s three major concentration areas include new innovative research avenues, improvement of student success, and restructuring organizational processes. According to Lev Gonick, ASU’s chief information officer, almost 66% of organizations are ‘currently exploring’ the incorporation of artificial intelligence.

Gonick said the objective is to capitalize on their knowledge core at the learning institution to create artificial intelligence-enhanced projects to transform educational tactics, assisting scholarly research and enhancing administrative efficacy.

Lev also said that granting access to innovative artificial intelligence tools aids in levelling the playing field for organizations and persons to utilize the technology for innovative and creative activities.

ASU Pursuing AI Acceleration in Partnership with OpenAI

ASU has already pledged to ‘explore artificial intelligence in all forms’ and revealed the unveiling of its artificial intelligence acceleration team last year. This team comprises technologists committed to developing the next generation of artificial intelligence tools.

ASU’s official announcement revealed that the OpenAI partnership will allow the creation of ‘new solutions’ as part of the team’s efforts. Lev said that if 2023 was considered the breakout year for generative AI, this year would be an opportunity for relevant practice and exploration to capitalize on AI’s true power.
