Brave Cuts Out Rewards Feature On Apple Devices

One thing that has always captured the heart of traders and dealers in the crypto industry is a phenomenon tagged airdrop. Airdrops are certain rewards that traders get from a protocol or a service free completing some tasks. These tasks have different ranges, and the higher the task, the more the rewards that would be gotten from the airdrop.

A significant milestone was achieved by the brave browser when they launched an advert system rewards for their loyal customers using desktop and mobile to benefit from while browsing. However, things are looking bleak for the rewards system on the IOS version of its mobile rewards as Apple has forced their hand into removing that feature on their devices.

Apple directive was the sole reason for scrapping the tipping system

The scrapping of the rewards system was made live after Apple made some significant changes to its user conditions and policies. Giving the full details of the development, CEO of digital exchange platform and wallets, ZenGo, Ouriel Ohayon told the crypto community that the crackdown on brave rewards by Apple is already effective.

The tweet the Ohayon shared included some critical details in the recent upgrade of the Brave browser on its Apple play store. Some of the details that were shared by the CEO included the scrapping its rewards feature entirely and the rebranding of another reward feature that would be entirely different from the one that was used. Also, Brave has put forward its official statement, telling its IOS users that it has released a new version of its app.

According to the statement, the browser noted that they have discussed the marketplace policy of Apple within their higher ranks and have decided that they would follow the instructions, hence the launch of the new version of the app. With the new version of the app now replacing the previous version, users and creators that use the browsers will subsequently be cut from the rewards system.

Apple said the rewards should be removed due to legality issues

As from this moment henceforth, two things would change, the first is that content creators will not be able to earn Basic Attention Tokens for creating contents while users would not be able to earn and tip their favourite content creators. This is coming off the back of the IOS 14 release with Apple staying that features such as rewards will be cut from all the apps in its marketplace.

“The new Apple directive which states that a person will no longer be allowed to pay or tip a person without the use of the in purchase system was the reason we shut down the rewards system on our app. Our previous app allowed users to send small amounts of the rewards they earn to creators, but that will no longer be possible because of the recently launched IOS 14,” Brave said.

Also, Brave said that even though it felt that its rewards system was not included in the directive, Apple later told them that the feature had to be removed because of specific issues surrounding its legality. Brave had a very wonderful year, but this move will be seen as a dent on its budding IOS market.
