Elon Musk Agrees to Jack Dorsey’s Bitcoin Talk Proposal

Jack Dorsey, CEO of Square and Twitter and a strong bitcoin enthusiast, proposed a bitcoin talk with Elon Musk. The electric car billionaire laughed off the proposal. But now, Musk seemed to have had a change of heart as he agreed to have that talk with Dorsey.

Jack Dorsey’s Bitcoin Conference

Elon Musk’s love-hate-love relationship with the crypto community seems to be all fun to him. Perhaps, that explains why he first laughed off the Twitter CEO’s suggestion of a bitcoin talk earlier. Dorsey’s bitcoin conference aims to protect the bitcoin industry and create more awareness on what makes its development perfect for everyone.

After initially laughing off the idea, the Twitter CEO asked the Tesla CEO to have a private discussion to clarify any of his doubt. Some hours later, Musk tweeted that he has agreed to have that discussion scheduled for the 21st of next month.

Jack Dorsey is a keynote speaker at the event. Other prominent speakers at Dorsey’s bitcoin conference include Adam Back and Catherine Wood. They are the CEOs of Blockstream and Ark Invest, respectively, with Wood also doubling as her company’s CIO.

Dorsey’s actions about the event and his conversation with Musk prove that the Twitter CEO remains a firm supporter of the leading cryptocurrency. Part of the statement from the conference website read thus: “providing a live experience and an advanced knowledge to the investor community. Hence, they have a better understanding of bitcoin role and make intelligent conversations about it on how it can improve industries worldwide.”

During an interview at the 2021 bitcoin conference in Miami, Dorsey revealed that he wouldn’t hesitate to leave Square, Twitter, or both if bitcoin requires more attention. He categorically stated that the virtual asset is the “most important work of his entire life.”

Ever since he changed the display message of his account to the word ‘bitcoin,’ he is yet to change it. Also, he continues to assist developers working on the bitcoin project in various capacities. His latest assistance was collaborating with Jay-Z (famous musician and music billionaire) to raise 550 BTC for bitcoin developers.

Musk Toys with The Crypto Community

It is a fact that Musk’s comments about bitcoin or the cryptocurrency world often affect the crypto market. In January, the Tesla CEO declared himself a bitcoin supporter; he added the #bitcoin to his Twitter bio briefly.

A month later, he revealed that his electric car company has invested about $1.5 billion in bitcoin and would start allowing bitcoin payment for Tesla car purchases.

During that same period, Elon Musk released a series of tweets to support Dogecoin, which sent the joke coin on a solid bullish run. However, last month, Musk changed his stance about bitcoin.

First, he revealed that Tesla would no longer accept bitcoin as a payment method because of environmental issues and the vast energy consumption involved in its mining. Then, he tweeted a broken heart meme which suggests that he no longer supports the primary cryptocurrency.

However, Musk has also stated that Tesla would resume accepting bitcoin as payment once confirmed that at least 50% of the energy used for bitcoin mining is clean.
