The second largest crypto asset Ethereum (ETH), has extended support to the Turkey and Syria earthquake victims. The web developer and founder of Ethereum donated $150000. 

The disastrous earthquake that struck Turkey has left thousands displaced and claimed many innocent lives. 

Impact of the Turkey-Syria Earthquake

On February 6, a tragic earthquake at a magnitude of 7.8 struck Turkey and Syria. Reportedly, more than 25000 individuals have lost their lives, and thousands are left displaced.

International and local humanitarian groups have joined efforts to rescue the affected individuals.

Despite the efforts, the displaced families are in dire need of shelter, food, and clothing. This has influenced public and private entities to donate relief to assist rescue efforts and support the affected families.

Crypto Firms Support Turkey Earthquake Victims

Over the past few years, the Turkey market has played a crucial role in the crypto hemisphere. Vitalik Buterin, the founder of the decentralized blockchain Ethereum sent 99 Ether amounting to $150000 to support the victims.

The transaction was recorded on Etherscan with Buterin details displayed as the sender while the recipient was the Ahbap Earthquake donations.

When Buterin made the transaction, the donation account owned 393 ether which translates to $600000.

Besides Buterin donations, the leading crypto exchange Binance had pledged to support earthquake victims.

Binance action mirrors other crypto firms, such as Bybit, BitMEX, and Gate.io, which have already sent their support to Turkey.

Moreover, a digital charity foundation, Giving Block, has launched a platform to accept crypto reliefs in an attempt to support Turkey.
