How do blockchain projects reward early contributors and users? They do so through token airdrops. Receiving native tokens of a particular protocol for free has become a new way of making money in the crypto world.
While not every token airdrop has filled the crypto users’ wallets with significant amounts of tokens, there are several that have made early users millionaires. For example, NFT marketplace Blur, which completed its second airdrop recently, issued one user about 21 million tokens worth $11 million at the time.
Here are some of the top airdrops that have either started or will commence soon.
Jito
Solana-based Decentralized Finance project Jito rolled out an airdrop of its native token JTO on December 7, a week after announcing that the crypto asset was coming. Coinbase was the first crypto exchange to list JTO on Thursday. According to data from Dune Analytics, Jito distributed tokens worth $225 million. So, who is eligible for the JTO airdrop? If you have used the DeFi protocol before the launch of the token, then go to jito.network/airdrop/ and connect your wallet by clicking the “Connect to Check Eligibility” button to determine if you qualify for the airdrop.
Starknet
Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution, Starknet announced on Friday that it would soon distribute its STRK token to early contributors and users. Over 800 million tokens have been allocated for the airdrop. As of this writing, Starnet hasn’t revealed the eligibility requirements for the airdrop. However, if you have used the scaling protocol, then stay tuned.
Blast
This is another Ethereum scaling solution that has announced a token airdrop, which is expected in April 2024. Blast is a project founded by NFT marketplace Blur. To become eligible for the airdrop, you need to stake ETH on the project’s cross-chain bridge. About $840 million worth of ETH has been staked so far.
Jupiter
Besides Jito, Jupiter is another Solana-based project set to reward its users with a token airdrop. The DeFi aggregator said last week that over a million crypto wallets were eligible for its airdrop. Have you been using Jupiter? Portal
This gaming project, which aims to release its cross-chain token soon, has been urging crypto users interested in receiving free tokens to promote the platform on X, formerly Twitter, to become eligible. The number of Portal tokens you will receive depends on the points you’ll have earned at the end of the promotional campaign.
