Indonesia is retained on its policy to put a ban on bitcoin as well as on other cryptocurrencies. It is reported that the Attorney General of Indonesia has conducted a training event, the main purpose of the event is to train lawyers about crypto crimes.
Dr. Arminsyah, the deputy attorney general of government, said:
The development of technology and cryptocurrency crime that follows it will always grow without slowing down, let alone waiting for us to catch up, it will instead continue to go so fast, leaving behind anyone who’s too late to anticipate and adopt it. Cross-country cryptocurrency crime must be seen as a common enemy, therefore it cannot be addressed or faced partially by each country but must be prevented, fought, and eradicated holistically and together.
The Event Attended by Eight Countries
The initiative is not on the part of one country but there are almost eight countries that are determined to do this action against crimes facilitated by digital currency. This action has been taken in response to increasing illegal activities.
The event is attended by the representatives of eight countries that include Turkey, Singapore, Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Russia and host country Indonesia.
This is not the first step on the part of the Indonesian government against bitcoin. They had put the ban on bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies back in early 2018. Since then they are continuously strict to anti-crypto policy.
Crypto-Crimes are increasing
It was reported to Tokenhell in June that the illegal activities increased to an unprecedented level. It was estimated that bitcoins worth $1 billion have been used in illegal exercises in one year. These activities are not going to end and the regularities authorities should have to take action upon it.
In this training course, they would train the lawyers and also the members of other departments related to these types of crimes. The Attorney is very optimistic about training and hoped that this would reduce illegal crimes through cryptocurrency.
Arminsyah commented:
I hope that the coordination established by the trainees is not merely formal… but also through informal cooperation, prosecutors to prosecutors, police to prosecutors, and customs to prosecutors, helping each other in the form of information delivery, data, advice, and the provision of facilities when they need each other.
