Jupiter Developer Reveals When Firm Will Conduct Most-Awaited JUP Airdrop
Meow Announces When JUP Airdrop is Expected
Several projects have announced plans to distribute free tokens to crypto users in January. One that Solana users are particularly interested in is Jupiter. The decentralized exchange aggregator is set to airdrop its JUP token this month. But when exactly should we expect the airdrop?
According to Jupiter’s pseudonymous developer Meow, the JUP airdrop will be conducted in the “4th week of January.” Meow wrote on X that over the next three weeks, the Jupiter team will focus more on establishing infrastructure, such as minting functionality and liquidity pools, and ensure that all eligible Solana users are able to claim their allocated JUP tokens.
Being their first time launching a token, Meow says they expect a few blunders, which they can use as a learning curve to improve Jupiter’s infrastructure in the future.
Jupiter to Airdrop JUP Tokens to Nearly One Million Wallets
Last November, Jupiter revealed that close to a million Solana wallets were eligible for some free JUP tokens. That month, the DEX aggregator launched a portal (airdrop.jup.ag) to allow users to check eligibility and the amount of tokens allocated to them.
Jupiter has allocated 40% of the total JUP supply, or 4 billion tokens, to the airdrop. The protocol has distributed the yet-to-be-claimed tokens to users based on various factors, such as their trading volume and the number of times they have used Jupiter.
Following the airdrop announcement, Jupiter recorded its largest monthly trading volume in December. According to Step Finance and Solana Floor data, the DEX aggregator processed $16.67 billion worth of trades last month.
More Airdrops for Solana Users
Over the last few months, most Solana users have seen their crypto holdings grow, thanks to several completed airdrops. At the start of December, decentralized finance platform Jito distributed 90 million JTO tokens worth $226 million to Solana users. Those who had used the protocol’s MEV services were eligible for the JTO airdrop. Per Jito’s roadmap, another airdrop will come in the future.
Another Solana-based DeFi platform, Pyth, airdropped PYTH tokens worth $77.5 million to users in late November.
