Scams that have happened in the crypto industry are not things to be proud of as it has been something that has made most people run away from the sector. A significant crypto scam case that has lingered for a while now is the Silk Road Bitcoin case. The brain behind the pyramid scheme, Ross Ulbright was arrested in 2013 after he was found guilty of cheating people out of their hard-earned funds.

In this case, he cheated them out of their digital assets as he amassed a massive fortuned carrying out the scam. A recent announcement by Lionsgate, an entertainment company, has pointed out that the Silk Road scam storyline will be portrayed in a movie come 2021.

Lionsgate set to release the movie in February 2021

According to the announcement, the new movie will focus solely on the founder of the darknet marketplace and the situation that led to his arrest by law enforcement agencies. Furthermore, Lionsgate noted that the reason that it has decided to make a movie around the founder and his market place was that it acquired the rights to show the movie based on the deadline.

Also, the film making company added that viewers who are interested in seeing the crypto scam inspired movies should be ready to see it grace their screen by February 19 next year. Lionsgate further positioned that the movie will first be available in theatre on that date before it will be put on major streaming platforms across the globe.

Finally, the company said the movie would be an adaptation of the 2014 article that was released by Rolling Stone which was titled Dead End on Silk Road. Several reports had claimed that the movie would sample Ulbricht’s life from his beginning leading up to when he was arrested for the scam that took place on the marketplace.

Ulbricht to serve life in prison without parole

Another announcement that was made was the lead actor that will be portraying Ulbricht in the movie is Nick Robinson, an actor that has started in various movies, including Jurrasic world. Ulbricht is presently in jail for two life sentences for offences ranging from computer hacking to trafficking narcotics and money laundering.

This is not the first time that the story will be appearing on screens across the United States as CBS has aired a documentary of the life and arrest of the Silk Road founder. The movie was scheduled to premiere in April at the Tribeca Film Festival but was cancelled as the coronavirus pandemic ravaged countries across the globe including the United States.

Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the Silk Road platform, was arrested in a library in 2013 and will serve all his life in jail without an option of parole. Even though he is incarcerated at the Tucson Penitentiary in the United States, he still gives expert analysis on Bitcoin and other digital assets on his blog.
