Mailchimp Account Breached But NFTs Still Safe – Yuga Labs

Recently, Mailchimp, an email marketing platform, suffered a data breach. Yuga Labs’ account was among the accounts compromised in the process.

Yuga Labs, the NFT firm behind the famous BAYC and CryptoPunks NFT collections, announced the incident on Twitter on Thursday. Meanwhile, the NFT giant has assured its users that their NFTs are safe.

Yuga Labs Comments On Recent Mailchimp Account Breach

Yuga Labs confirmed that they had only utilized the Mailchimp service on a few occasions and only for specific reasons. Still, they decided to disclose news of the breach as a precautionary measure.

In addition, the email service provider mentioned that an unauthorized individual may have gained access to the data within their account. However, investigation shows that the individual did not move or export any information.

Yuga Labs disclosed that the information contained in the Mailchimp account was specific to a limited email campaign and was not related to NFT minting. The platform reassured the community that they would reach out to individuals who may have been affected.

However, they will only do so through their official communication and social media platforms. Hence, users are advised to be vigilant of messages from persons claiming to be the company.

According to Mailchimp, the attack took place on January 11th. The email marketing platform immediately swung into action after detecting the breach.

The company sent notifications to those affected. Reports reveal that the breach affected dozens of users. Surprisingly, this is the second time a hacker has attacked Mailchimp in six months.

Yuga Labs’ Sewer Pass NFT Collection And Dookey Dash Game

The previous hack occurred when an attacker utilized social engineering tactics to access accounts. Most of the accounts affected were related to the finance and crypto industries.

Usually, these attacks on the crypto industry, where attackers use indirect methods to gain access, are not uncommon. As a result, crypto companies often advise their users to exercise caution when dealing with direct messages or suspicious emails from unknown individuals.

In other news, Yuga Labs has not slowed down on its expansion drive in the NFT space. Lately, the platform announced a new NFT collection, Sewer Pass.

This collection will be available to owners of the MAYC and BAYC NFT collections for free. Additionally, the firm unveiled a new crypto game called Dookey Dash. Dookey Dash is an endless runner-style game that requires players to possess a Sewer Pass to participate.
