Norwegian Government Agency Partnered With EY To Open Metaverse Office
The Brønnøysund Register Center — one of Norway’s government agencies, is in partnership with EY to open a virtual office in the Decentraland metaverse.
The aim of this is to reach the next generation of users. EY is among the top four accounting firms in the world and is short for Ernst & Young (EY). EY partnered with the Norwegian government agency to enable the latter to take a big step into the metaverse.
The new virtual office in the Decantraland metaverse will manage several public registers in Norway. Additionally, it will be responsible for operating systems for the digital exchange of information for the government.
The New Metaverse Office
According to the government agency, their reason for the new office in the metaverse world is that “future users of public services now use the metaverse.” At the same time, they want to connect with the younger generation using the Decentraland metaverse.
Magnus Jones, the innovation lead at EY, commented on the development. He said: “The number of authorities who see the need to be visible on platforms where they can find the younger generations is on the rise.
The authorities believe that the upcoming generation would various services, particularly for tax and legal services. In addition, Jones also noted that it’s the next generation that is presently building “DeFi-based landscapes.”
However, this younger generation lacks knowledge regarding tax and legal implications. “That’s why Norway’s public authorities want to create awareness on: How to register a company and the threshold of VAT registrations arise. It also plans to educate the public on ‘how to report your cryptos.'”
Moving forward, the virtual office will offer information on crypto to users via the Norwegian Tax Agency. Additionally, through the office, users can learn how to start an enterprise from experts at the Brønnøysund Registers.
The business developer at Brønnøysund Registers — Andreas Hamnes, said if government service keeps improving as they do now, there will be an increase of interest by the digital age generations.
It’s not EY’s first time exploring the metaverse space. After building its blockchain suite, the top accounting firm now owns an office in the Decentraland metaverse.
Allegedly there have been some worrisome claims regarding users’ numbers on Decentraland. For example, a report claimed only 40 unique users exist on the Decentraland metaverse platform.
However, the on-chain data platform (DappRadar) and Decentraland addressed the allegations and gave the correct number. After a few weeks of the incident, investors started speaking about the metaverse with confidence. They claimed that the metaverse was still a big part of the future and the internet.
