The London High Court is currently trying Craig Wright in a civil lawsuit. The lawsuit is filed by Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA). The movement is spearheaded and founded by Square Inc. CEO Jack Dorsey and has other noteworthy participants like Coinbase, Ark investment, Kraken, Satoshi Labs, and 13 other crypto organizations. The civil suit is a response to Wright’s copyright claims over the Bitcoin whitepaper. Wright is an Australian computer scientist who claims to be the creator of Bitcoin.
He has claimed on several occasions saying that he is the real creator behind the entire Bitcoin blockchain. However, his take on the current direction of the crypto blockchain is not very encouraging. Wright was the first one to launch a lawsuit against the Bitcoin.org administrator who published the whitepaper on his site. The publisher tweets and blogs under the pseudonym of Cøbra.
Cøbra is Ready to Step out of Shadows to Defend his Position on Whitepaper Publication Matter
The Bitcoin whitepaper first comes into public knowledge in 2008. Since Wright claims that he is Satoshi Nakamoto, therefore no one other than him reserves the right to publish the paper. Since the launch of this lawsuit, many independent websites have started to display the whitepaper in solidarity with Cøbra publically. Furthermore, the claims of Prof. Wright have been challenged in court with a collective front by COPA.
It seems that Cøbra, the admin of Bitcoin.org, has been getting called out on social media to defend the position of the open-sourced blockchain. It seems that the admin is also prepared to come out of the shadows in case push comes to shove. It should be noted that Bitcoin is a 100 percent decentralized system, and there are rumors that the governments might be preparing to bind it with regulations. However, in the absence of any central figure, it is impossible to put any party on trial.
The Crypto Community is Extending Moral and Practical Support to Cøbra
At one end, the joined forces of COPA are busy tackling the copyright infringement claims of Wright. On the other hand, Cøbra has been getting endorsements, reassurance, and support from the crypto community on the social media platform. Richard Kirkendall, CEO of the NameCheap, a hosting service that provides domain and hosting to Bitcoin.org, has also reassured Cøbra personally.
In a tweet, Kirkendall told Cøbra that as the service providers of the website, he is going to ensure that it remains secure and safe against all privacy breach attempts. Wright claims that he possesses undeniable evidence that he is the real Satoshi Nakamoto, but thus far, all his claims have proven to be unsubstantiated and lacking corroboration.
