Women in Crypto

The interest of women in blockchain and cryptocurrency is increasing to an unprecedented level in 2020. The new reports by analysts and analytical firms unveil that number of women in the crypto industry is surging, making new records. Normally, it is a belief that women are less interested in investing in Bitcoin and other crypto projects. But based on new growth data, this belief will no longer exist, and everyone will see an inflow of women in the blockchain world in the future.

Statistics Reveals Unprecedented Signups on Exchanges in 2020

The cryptocurrency exchanges and brokerages have seen a rapid increase in the number of female users since the start of the year amid Coronavirus. The crypto media outlet Cointelegraph collected the data from various cryptocurrency exchanges and found growth of up to 160% in female users on some exchanges. According to the data given by the crypto trading platform Bithumb Global, the female users have been increased by 30% in 2020. Vincent Poon, the vice president of Bithumb Global, said,” I think they just are trying to diversify or hedge the portfolio and start looking at Bitcoin as alternate investment due to losing confidence in the traditional securities or economy as a whole during the pandemic. More women open accounts but not necessary trading though. They are exploring.”

One of the major crypto exchanges, Bitfinex, revealed that the female users on the platform have been surged by 162% in year-to-date. Joe Morgan, the exchange’s senior public relations manager, claimed,”

“This growth clearly demonstrates an increasing interest in digital assets among women. As to why women are choosing to set up accounts with Bitfinex, perhaps this can in part be attributed to the diverse and inclusive nature of the business.”

Both OKCoin and CoinCorner crypto exchanges have seen a growth of 80% and 22.8% in female signups in the Q1 2020 respectively. The crypto exchange EXMO has also noticed the increase in women’s numbers on the platform. Maria Stankevich, head of business development at EXMO, said,” We noticed that sometimes the other family members of VIP traders started to trade. Probably it is connected with the fact that they want to gain some new skills.”
