50 BTC That Were Mined in 2010 Have Been Moved to Bitfinex

An amount of Bitcoin (BTC) has been transferred from an old wallet address that was used ten years ago last time. Reportedly, 50 Bitcoins that were mined in the year 2010 have been moved by someone from this old wallet address into a hot wallet of the Bitfinex cryptocurrency exchange. Interestingly, this amount of BTC was received in 2010 and it has been moved now just a few days ago.

The address received 50 BTC as a block reward back in 2010

Recently, a transaction was made by someone who transferred an amount of 50 BTC from a wallet address that was used in the year 2010 to one of the hot wallets of the famous cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex. This user is thought to have received these Bitcoins ten years ago as a block reward.

The old wallet address user has made the second transaction through this wallet address. In the first transaction, the same amount of 50 BTC was transferred into this address which the user received for mining a block on the network of Bitcoin and since that time, they have not been moved out of the wallet. This means that these Bitcoins have remained there for a period of ten years.

50 BTC are now worth over $500,000

When the user received this amount of BTC into its wallet address, it was worth nothing as at that time, the price value of Bitcoin was very low. The first transaction occurred at the time when the so-called creator of Bitcoin Satoshi Nakamoto was active. Bitcointalk, the famous internet forum for the discussion of Bitcoin, reported that the last activity from Satoshi Nakamoto was noticed in the month of December in 2010.

However, now these 50 Bitcoins are worth more than $500,000 when the price value of Bitcoin is trading at around $10,500. After the period of ten years, the old wallet user has earned a lot of profit.

This is not the first transaction that has been made from an old wallet. A similar transaction was made in the month of May 2020 when an amount of BTC was transferred to an anonymous wallet from a wallet address that was used in 2009.
