Thailand’s most prominent movie theatres operator Major Cineplex Group enters the cryptocurrency space with a new project. Reportedly, the firm is initiating a cryptocurrency pilot project, and as a part of that project, it will soon accept the world’s largest digital currency, Bitcoin (BTC) and other digital currencies allowing customers to purchase tickets using crypto assets.
Major Cineplex Group To Roll Out Crypto Pilot Project
Siam Rath, a local news media outlet, reported on Thursday that Major Cineplex is planning on rolling out a digital currency payments pilot project. According to the report, the firm revealed in an official announcement that as a part of this digital assets pilot project, the company has planned to begin accepting the leading digital currency Bitcoin and some other crypto assets while giving facilitation to its clients in payment options.
This move will let the customers use cryptocurrencies as a payment option for purchasing tickets. As per the report, this move of the company is a part of the firm’s plans for supporting new technologies and innovation.
Cineplex Partners With Two Firms For Unlocking This Payment Option
The local media agency further reported that the company has made partnership agreements with two firms for adding support for this new payment method. These two firms are RapidZ, a digital payment startup, and Zipmex, the local digital currency exchange. The company will collaborate with these two firms for making this payment option accessible to customers while giving them the opportunity to utilize it while they purchase tickets.

While unveiling details regarding its cryptocurrency pilot project, the firm stated in the announcement that it intends to strengthen its pilot project all across the 39 different movie theatres present in the city of Bangkok, and it plans to do that before the end of the present year. What’s more, it is the first time ever in the history of Thailand that the country’s movie theatre has taken a step to accept cryptocurrencies as a payment option.
