Elon Musk First NFT: Bidding Starts at $1.12M

While it is true that Elon musk has joined the NFT train, you’ll need at least $1 million to purchase his first NFT mint.

Elon Musk’s first NFT is about NFT

Whether for serious or trivial reasons, Elon musk now has an NFT. The PayPal co-founder and the Tesla CEO tweeted an announcement of his first NFT yesterday on the bird app. He tweeted, “selling this song about NFT as an NFT.”

This piece of artwork comprises several crypto-centred memes such as a “HODL” and the Shiba Inu mascot. The diamond hands in the piece represent the HODL, while the mascot represents Dogecoin. It also contains a house track that features NFT-themed vocals – a reference to the “vanity” label some people associated with this space.

Where Musk is Selling His NFT

Like his predecessors selling NFTs, musk also made his tweet for sale on cent after creating his NFT. Cent is a platform for tokenizing tweets and creating auctions that allow potential buyers to bid for the tweets. Data of all bids and the eventual winner is recorded on the Ethereum network and the winner can own that post.

As of this writing, Sina Estavi, CEO of bridge oracle is the top bidder for Elon’s tweet. His bid is over 620 ETH (about $1.2 million) so far. Cent continues to enjoy increasing influence and popularity as more people continue to join the NFT mania. Earlier in the month, Jack Dorsey (Square co-founder and Twitter Founder/CEO) minted his first NFT (his first-ever tweet) through cent.

However, he showed his generous side by announcing that he would be sending all the proceeds to give directly Africa response (an initiative giving cash to highly impoverished people without asking for anything in return). Coincidentally, Sina Estavi is also the highest bidder for Dorsey’s auction. His bid of almost 1,650 ETH (about $3 million) is the highest as at the time of this writing.

However, Dorsey intends to end the auction in the next five days. In contrast, Musk’s auction can’t end unless he receives a bid that matches or exceeds his offer for it. The Tesla CEO is yet to comment on the bid, or disclose what he plans to do with the proceeds. Also, no one knows those who created or sang the theme song for that artwork.

Musks’ fans won’t be surprised if he pokes jokes at the NFT space as he’s known for his online banter about the crypto space. Examples are his regular memes about cryptocurrency, especially bitcoin and Dogecoin. He did the same thing yesterday when he tweeted that he’s no longer to be addressed as Tesla CEO but as “Tesla Technoking,” and the CFO title of the company is now to be addressed as “master of coin.”

Possible Way Musk Could Have Known About NFT

Musk has always been known to vocal about bitcoin and Dogecoin, hence, it is likely that his girlfriend who goes by the name, grimes must have informed musk about it. Grimes’ first NFT was sold for $6,000,000 last month on the nifty gateway.
