Web3-based Plai Labs Nets $32M in Seed Capital Round

Plai Labs announced a successful financing round that yielded $32 million in efforts to integrate Web3 and artificial intelligence to advance digital social experiences. Established by former officials in Myspace and Jam City, the firm attracted a16z into the seed round. 

The developer of the Web3 social platform revealed in a January 19 update that the funds would help assemble a developers team capable of creating decentralized social platforms leveraging web3 and artificial intelligence. 

Experienced Founding Team

Plai Labs is leveraging the input of former executives at gaming studio Jam City to steer the development of Web3-AI platforms. Also, the social platforms builder is banking on Josh Brooks as its executive heading marketing and operations, a role he excelled in at Jam City. 

From his programming experience in Myspace, Brooks lauded Plai Labs’ priorities to lower the entry barriers for Web3 users. In particular, Brooks portrayed the recent project as suiting Web3’s use in digital ownership, social engagement, and entertainment. 

Exploiting Opportunities in Metaverse Ecosystem

Brooks observed that the metaverse ecosystem involves a lonely platform lacking social connection. As such, he added that Plai Labs would leverage the existing knowledge to navigate the projected social platforms people will use to interact in the future. 

Plai Labs is building upon the experience of its founding team, featuring Chris DeWolfe as the chief executive and Aber Whitcomb as the technology officer. The founding team is relishing to expedite the intersection of AI and Web3 alongside the creators to replicate the success realized in Myspace and Jam City. Brooks assured the replication of fun to the broad audience. 

Web3-AI Conversations

Meanwhile, Plai Labs is set to lead the conversations of artificial intelligence input within the Web3 ecosystem. Recognizing that ChatCPT and DALL-E have taken their software to new heights, Whitcomb portrayed AI as crucial to access metaverse and non-fungible tokens (NFT).  

Whitcomb revealed Plai Labs’ primary project is enabling the utilization of AI-based profiles to position it in various situations as art. Its accomplishment will advance the gaming and metaverse ecosystems when integrated with social platforms.
