Blockchain-based game development is gaining more traction as the number of players and developers continues to rise steadily. Consequently, the digital technology arm of Alibaba Group, Alibaba Cloud, is reportedly set to launch a Web3 development hub for game developers in Japan next month.

Blockchain Laboratory For Japan

The digital technology and intelligence arm of Alibaba Group will announce the launch of its blockchain laboratory next month, with plans to cite it in Shibuya, Japan. The project aims to allow Japanese blockchain game developers to enhance their commercial prospects as offered by the emergence of the Web3 evolution.

The lab will also enable developers to keep up with the highly competitive Web3 space when fully operational. According to a recent statement credited to Alibaba, the lab will be an incubator for game creators to keep and share ideas about the latest blockchain tool.

The establishment of the blockchain laboratory follows a collaboration between Tokyu Real Estate Co., Ltd, BitSummit, the leading Japanese indie game platform, and Skeleton Crew, a VR content creation studio. However, the hub is reportedly accessible to only a limited group of individuals and hackathon participants who are part of the core development team of the Alibaba Cloud projects.

Meanwhile, engineers from partner firms specializing in the Alibaba Cloud and blockchain initiative are expected to provide onsite technical help.

Alibaba Cloud’s Web3 Ecosystem Plans

With the latest announcement, Alibaba Cloud aims to enhance blockchain game developers’ expertise in Japan with a series of events. It plans to host seminars, workshops, and networking events to allow developers to learn of the newest innovation in the Web3 industry.

In addition, the developers should benefit from having direct access to the firm’s Web3 partner ecosystem. Safeheron is an example of Alibaba Cloud’s partner platform.

The ecosystem provides institutional investors a secure place to store their digital assets. Also, the blockchain system greatly boosts the speed and scalability of Web3 video game development initiatives.

Furthermore, developers will also get to explore each of the project’s blockchain test environments. According to the country manager of Alibaba Cloud Japan, Unique Song, the demand for content generation and digital technologies across sectors is increasing globally, especially in the country.

Accordingly, Song explained that Alibaba Cloud Japan seeks to provide robust, secure, and high-performance cloud facilities and technologies for Japanese developers and customers. Besides, the Japanese subsidiary of Alibaba Group intends to introduce a blockchain node service in the country by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, the firm added that the service is currently in a test mode with invited users using the platform to ensure its infrastructure is scalable, efficient, and user-friendly before developers start using it. It is worth noting that the Alibaba Group is one of several global firms investing in the Web3 industry as more gamers continue to join the Blockchain ecosystem.
