Digital currency payment solution giants, OpenNode, has revealed that BigCommerce will leverage its technology to enable its over 61,000 merchants across the world to accept bitcoin payments on their platforms.
Representatives from Both Firms Speak
Head of growth at OpenNode, Julie Landrum, revealed that “our collaboration with BigCommerce is a crucial stage in our goal of fulfilling the yearnings of various merchants in accepting bitcoin payments.” She further said, “we have received loads of positive responses from BigCommerce merchants after the success of enabling bitcoin payments for this year’s Miami bitcoin conference.”
“As payments evolve, OpenNode wants to be at the forefront of expansion and accessibility in this sector. Our collaboration with BigCommerce is one way we are achieving this goal, and we plan to collaborate with other innovative payments solutions.” BigCommerce merchants can perform sales settlements using fiat or bitcoin since OpenNode technology is compatible with any bitcoin wallet. BigCommerce merchants can also utilize OpenNode technology for Lightning Network and on-chain payments.
Hence, the merchants can service more clients, especially as cryptocurrency adoption continues to rise worldwide and many more people desiring digital currency payment solutions. In a statement shared with the media, BigCommerce deputy president for business development, payments, banking and FinTech, Mark Rosales, revealed that “modern clients prefer to have various checkout options when they want to make payments on any website.”
“They want to use any payment option that’s comfortable for them, whether credit card or digital currency. That is why our software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform is open to working with firms that can make these customers’ desires a reality.” “We are delighted that our collaboration with OpenNode will enable our merchants to satisfy the yearnings of the teeming customers,” he concluded.

BigCommerce merchants can also utilize checkout.com’s features such as risk management via their BigCommerce dashboard.
Consequently, merchants can accept payments from leading international card payments and other alternative payment solutions such as Sofort, Alipay and many others.
Bitcoin Won’t Work as A Payment Solution System
Despite the euphoria greeting the announcement of the OpenNode-BigCommerce partnership, a member of the federal reserve board of governors, Randall K. Quarles, has argued that bitcoin is a novelness that will soon fade and won’t work as a payment system.
Quarles does not see any reason why America should issue a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). He opined that other countries CBDCs and virtual currencies are not a threat to the u.s. Dollar and even a U.S. CBDC won’t have any noticeable effect on the country’s financial infrastructure.
Quarles also compared bitcoin with gold, saying that “gold is even better because of its industrial and aesthetic uses, complementing its financial attractiveness. However, bitcoin’s only attractions are its anonymity and novelty, which will soon fade away.”
