Coinbase is offering an exit package for those employees who are willing to leave the company. The company is pointing towards those who have not accepted Coinbase’s new policy for the future.
Coinbase’s CEO Controversial Blog Post
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong wrote a blog post this week in which he asked employees to keep aside from politics or social activism. The blog post raised a fury in the crypto community. Some voices in the industry have praised it for avoiding political activism but some have criticized the cold attitude of Armstrong toward company employees.
A former employee at Coinbase, Dan Romero, believes it is good to see that the company is determined to pursue its mission. Former product manager, Reuben Bramanathan, on the other hand, says it does not prevent Coinbase from “acknowledging the injustice and inequality that affects many current and future Coinbase users.”
Package for Employees
Coinbase will provide a good package to those who are not satisfied with the company agenda. “The company has notified users via email. Four months severance for employees with less than three year tenure, six months severance for those who have been here more than three years,” the email reads. At the end of notice, there is a clear cut message for those who want to leave.
“It’s always sad when we see teammates go, but it can also be what is best for them and the company. As I said in my blog post, life is too short to work at a company that you aren’t excited about. Hopefully this package helps create a win-win outcome for those who choose to opt out.”
The manner of email is similar to Armstrong’s blog post. He asked employees to contact HR in this regard. “If you’re interested in speaking with HR about this package (not committing to take it, but beginning a discussion) please fill out this form and someone will reach out shortly. Your conversation will be confidential with HR unless you choose to include your manager. If you decide to proceed, HR will provide you with a separation agreement and work with you on your last day,” he added.
