Ethereum Co-founder Proposes Ethereum 2.0 Accelerated Transition

The co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin has proposed a faster transition to Ethereum 2.0.

Vitalik Buterin says that the aim of this alternative proposal is to get rid of the Proof of Work (PoW) chain and then transfer each and everything onto the beacon chain.

Buterin has already posted several aspects of this transition but this alternative scheme, he says, will make the transition simple in a few ways.

Ethereum co-founder further said that this proposal does not require stateless miners and web assembly rather it requires stateless clients. This means that it requires much less “rearchitecting” to accomplish.

Vitalik Buterin said that the state root of the original Ethereum system along with other beacon features such as a list of validator indices will be in the state shard 0.

In his Proposal Buterin said:

Any validator has the right to register themselves as eth1-friendly (and deregister) at any time. The proposer on shard 0 at any given slot is chosen randomly out of the eth1-friendly validators.

Ethereum co-founder also gave some prerequisites. Among these prerequisites, some are implementations of stateless client software, a pure function for verifying blocks and witnesses and also some of the changes to the Ethereum 1.0 side protocol.

According to Buterin’s proposal, all shard committees are required to verify and check their own shards and they would only verify the data availability. As the proposal reads:

All other shard committees verify their own shard blocks, but they would only be verifying data availability, not state execution, as shard 0 is the only shard that would be running computation.

Apart from this, the validators who want to take part in the eth1 system will be registered friendly and that validator then will maintain the Ethereum 1.0 full node.
