Blockchain: Largest Health Network in New York partners with IBM in Fight against COVID-19
The biggest health network in New York, Northwell Health, partners with IBM to speed up the supplies of health equipment to fight against Coronavirus. IBM’s newly launched network Rapid Supplier Connect will help Northwell Health in approaching suppliers without wasting any time.
IBM Initiative to Connect Buyers with Suppliers
New York City is the most affected city in the Us as well as in the world. The medical and other needed protective equipment run short of supply as patients are present in thousands. In order to get more supply on an emergency basis, they need to connect suppliers for this purpose. IBM’s Rapid Supplier Connect will help out in connecting buyers with the suppliers in this critical time. The Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer at Northwell Health, Phyllis McCready, said:
“It is through creating our own group purchasing organizations (GPOs) and supply chain, and joining forces with non-traditional suppliers that we have maintained an adequate stockpile of personal protection equipment (PPE) and other equipment and supplies, so we are pleased to join IBM Rapid Supplier Connect.”
IBM launched this new blockchain-based network to take strong measures against COVID-19. The main agenda of the network is to connect buyers with suppliers, especially non-traditional suppliers. And the important thing is that they are charging no fees at all for this service until August 2020.
IBM said:
“Suppliers and buyers currently joining the network include hospitals and other organizations such as Northwell Health, New York’s largest healthcare provider, and The Worldwide Supply Chain Federation, which is on-boarding more than 200 American suppliers from its 3,000 global community members.”
IBM launched this new initiative on the existing blockchain network called Trust Your Supplier Blockchain Network. In this sensitive time, attaining the optimum demand is very important to tackle with COVID-19 efficiently.
Mark Treshock, the leader of global blockchain solutions at IBM and also the chief of Rapid Supplier Connect Chief, said:
“We want to help fight COVID-19. Rapid Supplier Connect can link suppliers to buyers who may never have known of each other.” Mark Treshock, the leader of global blockchain solutions at IBM and also the chief of Rapid Supplier Connect Chief, said.” The network also helps identify existing supplies and excess inventory going unused, allowing hospitals to make it available to others and redirect supplies where they are needed most.”
