A well-known international fast-food chain restaurant known as Quiznos (which specializes in sandwiches) recently announced that it would start accepting payments in Bitcoin (BTC) at select locations within Denver, Colorado.
As Bitcoin’s (BTC) popularity continues to grow, so too makes the demand for its usage, as crypto enthusiasts have consistently demanded that the option to pay in crypto at both a retail and institutional level be made possible for some time now. With this in mind, customers of Quiznos will eventually be allowed to pay with BTC. The crypto payment option had been made possible thanks to a collaboration with Bakkt, a payments provider, and it is expected that the restaurant will begin officially accepting BTC as a form payment later on in the month.
A new use-case for Bitcoin?
Other restaurants have allowed customers to be able to pay with crypto before, including Subway, Burger King, and even Starbucks, so Quiznos adding a BTC payment option is not exactly a new concept. However, it is nevertheless of the utmost significance as this represents a growing use case for the flagship crypto. As such, the so-called ‘pay with BTC’ pilot program is scheduled to be initially introduced in Denver and may eventually expand to other cities and states as well, depending on how successful the program is.
Moreover, customers who choose to pay with Bitcoin will be entitled to receive $15 as a sort of appreciation from Quiznos for participating in the new initiative. The Bakkt app will additionally have a loyalty rewards program built into it, and gift cards shall also be made readily available to be availed by the customers.
A new era for crypto
While Quiznos may be the next international fast-food chain to accept crypto payments, numerous others in the food, entertainment, and retail industries have already done so. KFC Korea had even gone as far as to incorporate non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as part of its growing innovative mindset.
Apart from restaurants, the world of sports has become increasingly involved with cryptocurrencies. Teams in both the NBA as well as MLB have enabled customers to successfully buy merchandise and tickets via BTC, ETH, and even DOGE. Mark Cuban’s Dallas Mavericks, along with the Oakland Athletics, are perfect examples of such behavior.
Most notably, however, the biggest use-case for Bitcoin had to be when Elon Musk had added it as a payment option for Tesla before eventually removing it.
