Mississippi Church Introduces Cryptocurrency As A Giving Method

Although the United States has seen considerable traction in terms of cryptocurrency adoption, an unlikely source has now come forth with an unexpected announcement. As of now, Back Bay church (situated in Mississippi) has made it known that it is possible to make donations to the Southern Baptist church via cryptocurrencies. Its members now have the ability to donate money through Bitcoin (BTC) and several other altcoins.

The new giving method was unanticipated, to say the least. However, it has provided a new way of using cryptocurrencies in the real world. In fact, a native of the Mississippi Gulf Coast by the name of Pastor Adam Bennett had disclosed the announcement wherein cryptocurrencies could be used as a new kind of donation option. The traditional channels of making donations are still open as well.

A new relationship between the church and crypto

The pastor had talked about how it might come off as a strange idea right now, given the overall status surrounding cryptocurrencies in general, but there is a definite possibility that this will be considered normal in the future due to the fact that an increasing number of individuals are using cryptocurrencies every day.

As such, apart from the aforementioned ability to donate using BTC, the religious institution’s members may also donate via Ethereum (ETH), USD Coin (USDC), Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and even Dogecoin (DOGE). The notion to have donations be made through cryptocurrencies had been discussed for a while, with Bennett talking about a few conversations that were had between him and some other members of the church who had all gotten involved in crypto in the past.

After the initial discussions, Bennett soon discovered that cryptocurrencies were being accepted by the Salvation Army. Although he ultimately decided to utilize a different platform, he still expressed an interest in the cryptocurrency industry and what it could do for the church. Right now, however, the church is not doing anything more than simply ‘dipping its toes’ as far as crypto may be concerned.

The role of cryptocurrencies regarding missionary work

As cryptocurrencies are digital assets, it is entirely feasible for any given person to donate to the church in the same way that he or she would with a piece of land or with cash. The goal remains the same, which according to Bennett, is to serve God. To that end, he claims that cryptocurrencies could help in offering assistance to those nations which may be struggling from a financial standpoint.

Bennett also talked about the effectiveness of cryptocurrencies and how quickly a transfer of crypto assets from one wallet to another can occur without the involvement of intermediaries. He stated that by paying a small fee, it is possible to send money out to those who need it in a very quick fashion, and the people who receive the assets could then either convert it into any other form of crypto-asset or simply sell for cash.
