Playboy to Release NFTs, Large Bid for CryptoPunk NFT rejected

Playboy is set to release new NFTs with the launch scheduled for Oct 24. The largest ever bid for a CryptoPunk NFT has been rejected due to the sentimental value it holds for the owner. Martha Stewart launched her own NFT collection which has tokenized pumpkins that are either pre-carved or custom carved, though no bid has been made as of this writing.
Playboy Set to Release NFT Bunnies
A new NFT project was unveiled by PLBY Group, Inc which owns the popular Playboy magazine. The number of NFTs in the project is 11,953, and it pays homage to 1953 which is the year Playboy was founded. These tokens can be seen as access to a Playboy Club that allows the owners access to special events, contents and merchandise. This was reported in the announcement made yesterday.
These NFTs are based on Ethereum, and the launch will start on Oct. 24, especially for whitelisted investors. This will be followed by two public sales launches, with one being for customers paying with USD, and the other will be for those paying with ETH. These sales will be hosted on a ‘Playboy Rabbitar’ website. Also, the price of the NFTs will be 0.1953 ETH or the equivalent in fiat currency.
Largest Bid For CryptoPunk NFT Rejected
Recently, a bid of 2,500 ETH was made for the CryptoPunk #6046, a tokenized punk avatar. This bid represents over $10 million and would have been the biggest CryptoPunk sale ever, however the bid was rejected by the owner of the CryptoPunk. CryptoPunk 3100 is the current record holder following its sale in March for $7.58 million.
CryptoPunk #6046 shows a person smoking a cigarette while wearing 3D shade, and it was bought for $83,209 by the current owner. This new bid of 2,500 ETH came after the current owner claimed that he would not sell his CryptoPunk regardless of how much he was offered for it. This was put to the test by the startup ‘Poap’ when it sent the huge bid of 2,500 ETH to tempt the current owner to back down on his previous stance.
The current owner, a Twitter user Richerd, claims that a bid of a billion dollars would be rejected due to the sentimental value the NFT holds for him. He considers his rejection of the bid an easy one due to the value he places on his personal brand and identity.
Martha Stewart Launches NFTs
Martha Stewart, the popular celebrity, has joined the growing adopters of NFTs by launching her NFT collection called ‘Fresh Mint’. This collection of NFTs is based on Ethereum, Fresh Mint seems to be a gallery in which its sales and auctions will be on the OpenSea marketplace.
These tokenized pumpkins to be launched are either pre-carved or custom carved pumpkins. The pre-carved pumpkins will be sold at a starting price of 2 ETH while the custom carved ones will be starting at 3 ETH. After bidding for the custom pumpkins, the highest bidder can send a picture which would be carved into a pumpkin. This would be tokenized into another NFT and the physical pumpkin will be delivered to the bidder. At the moment, no bid has been placed on these NFTs.
