As the mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies is increasing day by day, they are increasingly being used for payment purposes. Various online websites have added some of the famous cryptocurrencies as payment options to facilitate their clients who want to pay in their favourite digital currencies. Pornhub, one of the famous adult entertainment websites, is one of those online websites that are supporting cryptocurrency payments.
Keeping in view the popularity of digital currencies, Pornhub has expanded its list of cryptocurrency payment options by adding new famous digital assets into it. It has added payment support for four new digital assets. These include the fifth-ranked cryptocurrency XRP, Dogecoin (DOGE), the world’s second-largest stablecoin USD Coin (USDC), and Binance Coin (BNB), the native cryptocurrency of the world’s leading digital currency exchange in terms of trading volume Binance. With this, over 120 million daily users of Pornhub can use these four cryptocurrencies to pay for their premium subscriptions.
Now, there are 16 cryptocurrencies in total that are supported by Pornhub as payment options. In addition to these newly-added four digital currencies, the top-ranked cryptocurrency Bitcoin (BTC), the second-largest cryptocurrency in the world by market value Ethereum (ETH), BCH, Ethereum Classic, Monero (XMR), Litecoin (LTC), Nem (NEM), Tron (TRX), Tether (USDT), Verge, Waves, and Cash are the twelve other digital assets supported by the adult site.
The interesting thing to note here is that Pornhub has added support for XRP at a time when its parent company Ripple Labs is facing a lawsuit filed by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Reportedly, Pornhub recently took a step to remove support for two privacy-centred digital tokens PumaPay and Dash (DASH). Both of these coins were removed after the mid of December 2020.
It is important to highlight here that Pornhub supports cryptocurrencies as payment options in some restricted countries, which include the United Kingdom (UK), the United States (US), and Singapore. However, it still supports bank wire transfers in EU countries, including Germany.
Credit Card payments, however, are not supported by Pornhub. The reason behind this is that two famous payments services firms MasterCard and Visa imposed a ban, previous month, on credit card payments for Pornhub users after cutting their ties with it due to the accusations of rape videos and child abuse. Pornhub, however, refused to accept these accusations.
