Premier League Partners With Sorare To Launch ETH-Based Digital Cards

The English Premier League has agreed with Sorare, a blockchain-based fantasy sports company. This partnership will allow Sorare to create Ethereum-based digital cards for Premier League players on its platform.

Sorare Signs Four-year Deal With The Premier League

Sorare has recently been making waves by creating innovative use cases for ETH-based digital cards and fantasy sports. The company has offered fans different NFT cards they can mint and trade across various NFT marketplaces.

Sorare’s latest deal aims to bring fans close to the Premier League and vice versa. Although the company announced the partnership on January 30th, a company representative stated there had been a lengthy discussion between Sorare and the Premier League.

Notably, cards of Premier League players are currently available on Sorare. Some cards tagged “super rare” are valued at about $100 and more.

Interestingly, Sorare started making moves to penetrate the Premier League in 2019. At the time, the fantasy sports platform sealed its first deal with West Ham United.

According to reports, Sorare secured a four-year deal with the Premier League. However, the company did not disclose the deal’s value for contractual reasons.

Additionally, a spokesperson for Sorare pinpointed major parts of the deal. According to the spokesperson, Sorare has made some upfront downpayment for licensing rights.

Furthermore, both entities will split the revenue from the digital card sales according to an agreed percentage. Sorare will mint the digital cards on the ETH network.

Besides, all its NFT player cards were minted using the ERC-721 token standard. Players can collect and trade the NFT player cards.

Also, they can use the cards to participate in a free-to-play sports game on the Sorare platform.

Sorare Using Blockchain Technology To Connect Sports And Fans

Initially, Sorare will offer digital player cards for sale on the Sorare platform. Afterward, Sorare will make it available on compatible NFT marketplaces like OpenSea, where fans can trade them with one another.
