Reports Claim Trump Is Considering Pardoning Ross Ulbricht
Hack and scam attacks are not something new to the crypto ecosystem, considering that the digital assets in the sector were initially designed to favour anonymity. Armed with this tool, several malicious actors have been able to carry out illegal and malicious dealings, scamming several unsuspecting victims to amass wealth.
While the story of the end of most malicious actors has always followed a known pattern, it looks like this one is about to see a reverse in fortune. Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the popular darknet marketplace, Silk Road, was arrested some years back and has been sentenced accordingly. Still, as it stands now, sources claim that he is about to be granted an executive pardon.
Three counsel of the while house are looking into Ulbricht’s case
According to news from several sources, The president of the United States of America has shown a deep level of concern in the Ulbricht case, sparking rumours of a potential pardon. The Silk Road founder is presently in jail serving a life sentence for offences ranging from money laundering activities using digital assets to the hacking of computers to steal funds.
A report around last week said that several top guys in the digital asset world wrote a heartfelt petition to the United States president, Donald Trump to use his good office to grant Ross Ulbricht an executive release.
However, it looks like the president will do exactly what was asked of him after several confirmed reports claimed that about three White House counsel has been looking into the Silk Road founders case. The report went ahead to note that Donald Trump has received the report of the counsel and has been deeply touched by Ulbricht’s plight.
Notably, Ulbricht is supposed to spend his whole life in jail without the option of parole, if the presidential release doesn’t eventually happen. Even though the president has received the report from the counsel, he is yet to act on it but he will eventually when he takes a look at his next round of pardons.
Ulbricht’s mother wants Trump to give her son another chance to life
It seems Ulbricht has finally found favour in the sight of several agencies and law enforcement as most of them, including Alice Johnson, is in support of his release. In a statement that was given by Ross’ mother, Lyn Ulbricht, she noted that they would continue to hope and pray that the president will favour her son and Grant him pardon like he has several others.
She says that of this pardon is granted; then her son will be able to have another chance to live a good life and make a positive impact. The Silk Road Darknet was very famous as a place where several illegalities were carried out, which includes sales of illegal drugs and money laundering. The FBI reported in 2013 that the website was officially closed after the agency arrested Ulbricht, the founder.
After his arrest, Ulbricht was slammed with numerous charges after an earlier report stated that nothing less than 69,370 Bitcoin was sent from an address that was linked to Silk Road. Ulbricht will go head to head with other candidates with Trump set to make some of his final decisions as the president of the United States of America before Joe Biden’s inauguration.
