More South American Countries to Introduce Bitcoin-friendly Laws like Salvador

Paraguay is one of the South American countries affected by El Salvador’s decision to accept Bitcoin as a legal tender. A new Bitcoin influencer and maximalist has been gaining traction in the community after his recent Bitcoin-friendly tweets. Carlitos Rejala is a legislator in Paraguay who might pave the way to introduce Bitcoin-savvy laws in the country.

He has disclosed that he has been working in association with Paraguay Senator Fernando Silva Facetti. According to his tweets, the team is opting to introduce an important crypto-centric legislature by July 14, 2021. In a tweet made online on July 10th, he claimed that the new Bitcoin bill has a mega surprise and something giant is in store for the Paraguay citizens.

Ever since lawmaker Rejala has started to make crypto-friendly tweets, there have been rumours that Paraguay might become the first South American country to accept Bitcoin as a legal tender. However, speaking to journalists at Reuters, he clarified that the new Bitcoin bill concerns itself with cryptocurrency regulations in the region.

He further added that banks and other fintech companies would deal in the crypto market legally with these new regulations. On the other hand, the citizens of Paraguay or any person visiting the country will also get the opportunity to trade Bitcoin and other altcoins legally. The government of Paraguay wants to eliminate the chances of illegal and over-the-counter crypto trading.

The Federal University of Paraguay Plans to Start Accepting Crypto Payments from August

The Universidad Americana is a national educational institution in Paraguay. Camilo Jimenez General, the director of the institutions, has recently told that students will be able to settle their fees with digital assets starting from August. He further explained that due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, about 60% of the students enrolled attend online classes. In the same fashion, about 70% of the payments send to the university are bank wires and other digital transfers. Jimenez did not disclose the name of the crypto enterprise that will be providing support in this regard. However, he claimed that the digital wallet is ready and will be available to the students from fall when the button is added on the official website.
