Things Related to Cryptocurrency Get Back To Normal On Twitter After The Hacking Attack

After the recent Twitter hack, the platform became more sensitive to the posts related to Bitcoin and other crypto coins. As the hackers tried to scam users by sharing a BTC address, the users then restricted to use the string of letters or numbers. But now, things have come to normal as crypto addresses can be shared over Twitter.

The crypto community reacts differently to the Twitter hacking attack. Some are even claiming that the hackers did this to promote the world’s leading cryptocurrency Bitcoin as the amount hacked is not big. According to the latest data, only 12.5 BTC swindled from Twitter users via the accounts of prominent members over Twitter.

String of Letters or Numbers were Restricted

After the attack, when someone tried to tweet a BTC address, the response was given as follows:

“This request looks like it might be automated. To protect our users from spam and other malicious activity, we can’t complete this action right now. Please try again later.”

The crypto tracking account Whale Alert also tweeted:

“Due to anti-hack measures taken by Twitter the Whale Alert bot can no longer post any transfers and we cannot manually add them either. We hope Twitter will resolve the issue soon. Transfers are still being posted to our Telegram channel.”

Twitter support called it a “coordinated social engineering attack” and claimed that attackers “successfully targeted some of our employees with access to internal systems and tools.”

Twitter support further said:

“We know they used this access to take control of many highly-visible (including verified) accounts and Tweet on their behalf. We’re looking into what other malicious activity they may have conducted or information they may have accessed and will share more here as we have it.”

At press time, it looks like things are back to normal as we have checked by sharing a BTC address over Twitter. And it is good news for the crypto community as all members of the community are engaged with Twitter in one way or the other.
