On Wednesday, Turkey’s President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, revealed that the country’s e-Human project would be powered by blockchain technology. He announced at a time close to Turkey’s national blockchain summit. According to multiple media reports, Turkey’s e-Human project will utilize blockchain technology to ensure the security of all data associated with the project’s tools and services.
Although the project has a sci-fi identity, Turkey’s e-Human project will function as a digital service link where the country’s presidency can share data that deals with its tools and services linked to remote education, career, and talent acquisition. Thus, public employees, students, and graduates will easily have access to internship opportunities and jobs in the private and public sectors.
They will also get certified training programs through career events held across the country. In addition, they will also earn certifications from programs and other educational activities from the e-Human portal. The project’s primary goal is to boost the employability of the nation’s workforce and support the development of Turkish residents.
Other Turkish Projects Related To The Blockchain Industry
Earlier this year, Ava labs (the developers behind the Avalanche blockchain) teamed up with turkey’s electric vehicle manufacturer, TOGG, to develop smart contract-built mobility services.
Turkey was cryptocurrency-friendly until President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared a total clampdown on all crypto transactions and related activity. The country announced a nationwide ban on all financial settlements for local goods and services using crypto in April 2021.
Although the country banned crypto activities, it started to explore the cryptocurrency industry, creating many blockchain-related projects for its citizens. This was evident in the country’s announcement of a National Blockchain Infrastructure blueprint. However, the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic paused this project as the authorities didn’t provide any further updates apart from the first announcement.
Nevertheless, the citizens of the country continue to show immense interest in cryptocurrency, resulting in a vast adoption rate in the country, even against the government’s wish. Turkey is a destination for many global events related to the crypto or blockchain industry.
Some recent events include The Blockchain Economy Istanbul and The Istanbul Blockchain Week. Another big event is the Ethereum developer community, DevCon. The local developer community is making all efforts to ensure that Istanbul hosts this event. According to recent Chainalysis data, Turkey is one of the fastest-growing cryptocurrency markets in the world.
The 2022 Chainalysis Cryptocurrency Adoption data revealed that the country is among the top 20 nations with huge crypto interests. Furthermore, its level of crypto adoption is even higher than most European countries.
