Twitter Shuts Down Ethereum Classic’s Account, Cardano Founder Reacts

In a recent tweet, one of Ethereum Classic (ETC) ‘s top-level directors, Bob Summerwill, revealed that Ethereum Classic’s official Twitter account was suspended by owners of the social networking site. In addition, Summerwill accused Twitter of not providing any notice before closing the account.

According to Summerwill, the incident could have resulted from an automated false-positive action. He also argued that the platform did not make any controversial posts.

Furthermore, the director assured the Ethereum Classic community that he had complained. Hence, he hopes that Twitter will restore the account soon.

Following the suspension news, Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, came on Twitter to air his opinion on the matter. However, his tweet sounded more like a mockery. He said:

“This was brought to my attention a few minutes ago. Is it true that the Ethereum classic Twitter handle was recently suspended?”

A Twitter user replied that the ETC director had complained to Twitter’s customer support. In response to the comment. Then, Hoskinson jokingly replied, “I am sure they will come up with a 70-paragraph email.”

Hoskinson Battles With The ETC Community

According to Hoskinson, the official account of the decentralized platform belonged to him. But he won’t hand over or sell the account to the Ethereum Classic community.

ETC’s Twitter account had over 600,000 followers before its suspension. It could be why Hoskinson has refused to hand over the account.

On September 6th, Summerwill tweeted that the Cardano founder swore to damage the coin. No one knows why Hoskinson has been tormenting the ETC project.

Meanwhile, the ETC’s DAO community sought a resolution weeks ago, mentioning Twitter’s customer support in a tweet. Their tweet read:

“What is your recommendation regarding the suspension of the Twitter account of the Ethereum Classic open-source project? Should we change the handle of the project’s Twitter account? How do we address the existing problem?”

Hoskinson Modifies Account To Ergo’s Official Page

Also, Summerwill has accused Hoskinson of modifying the account. He claimed the Cardano founder’s action erased six years of hard work building the account.

Since its creation in 2016, the Ethereum Classic Twitter account has grown to about 600,000 followers. Before the suspension on September 15th, all posts on the platform had been about Ethereum Classic.

Hoskinson has repurposed the account as Ergo’s new official Twitter page. Ergo is a PoW (proof-of-work) blockchain similar to Ethereum’s pre-Merge blockchain. However, it is associated with Cardano.

Before now, Hoskinson labeled the Ethereum Classic project as a “dead” one with no future. Time will tell whether Twitter will restore the account or if Hoskinson will hand it over to the ETC community.
