Twitter Suspends Many Cryptocurrency Influencer’s Accounts

Twitter has suspended a number of accounts of cryptocurrency influencers. The suspension had come around this past Wednesday, as many users complained that they were not able to access their profiles. This has understandably sparked outrage among the users on the social media platform, and at the time of this writing, it is still unclear as to why Twitter has done this, although there may be some reasons that this article will nevertheless look at.
‘We suspend accounts of those that have violated Twitter rules and regulations’
When researched further, we found that only those accounts which have violated the rules and regulations set by Twitter in some way, shape, or form have, in fact, been suspended. One could also notice the trend amongst these suspended accounts as nearly all of them had to do with cryptocurrency and digital trading to some extent. Some usernames included @themooncarl, @100trillionUSD, @KoroushAK, @woonomic, @wsbchairman, @TheCryptoDog, and @mmcrypto. At the time of this writing, only @100trillionUSD and @woonomic have had their accounts restored.
Twitter has refused to comment any further on the reasons as to why the suspensions were administered, nor have they given any explanation as to why some accounts have been restored whereas others have remained suspended. Furthermore, they have also yet to respond to any request for comments, questions, and clarifications regarding this situation.
Uncertainty remains as users await restoration for their accounts
Uncertainty and frustration are just some of the feelings that the users of these suspended accounts are currently experiencing, as with each day that they are unable to utilize their accounts passes, they are potentially losing money and clients. Moreover, this is also increasingly worrying because investors and consumers alike who are involved in the cryptocurrency and digital trading industries will have to be increasingly careful as to what they can and cannot do within the social media landscape.
Nevertheless, one may speculate that the reason for suspensions implemented could be due to the fact that cryptocurrency is difficult to control given its extremely volatile nature. Not only this, but there have also been several scams and fraudulent activities related to cryptocurrency in the past, so social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram may want to stop these from potentially happening as well.
