VC Poured About $958M in the Crypto and Blockchain Industry

According to a recent report, there has been more activity in the bitcoin fundraising space. In February, $958 million worth of venture capital was invested in the cryptocurrency and blockchain businesses.

VC investments fuel the crypto craze

As a demonstration of their interest in cryptocurrency, several venture capital companies have made significant investments in bitcoin and various other cryptocurrencies. So, it is common to see a significant correlation between the price of bitcoin and the total amount of money invested by venture capitalists.

Notably, since the beginning of 2023, there have been 195 investment rounds that have raised a total of $1.5 billion, indicating that there has been a significant increase in both the number and magnitude of the funds raised. This demonstrates a significant and growing interest in investment possibilities across various firms. It will be fascinating to see how this pattern develops over the year’s remaining months.

For instance, the first quarter of 2021 saw a dramatic increase in venture capital investment, followed by a similar rise in the price of bitcoin. Conversely, when the price of bitcoin fell to multi-year lows in the fourth quarter of 2022, venture capital investment also dropped significantly.

VC’s Long-Term Bet on Bitcoin

Despite the fact that the bitcoin market is very volatile, venture capitalists continue to invest substantially in it because they think it has the potential for long-term development. As a result, early-stage investment rounds remained the primary focus of venture capitalists during the fourth quarter, when a combined total of 622 million USD was raised for pre-seed and seed rounds.

On the other hand, later-stage rounds such as Series A, B, C, and D often involve fewer lucrative initiatives while raising a more significant total amount of cash. As the cryptocurrency industry continues to expand and more high-quality firms come into existence, there may be a shift toward a greater emphasis on post-seed investment.
