WME Signs Instagram NFT Sensation Valfre’

Despite the slow growth pace of the Web3 space for most of 2022, the American talent agency WME has added another contemporary artist, Ilse Valfre, to its list of growing NFT creators.

“Valfre” has a massive 897,000 followers on Instagram and was also recently selected as one of the creators to participate in the social media platform’s “NFT trial program.”

The program allowed participating artists to display, mint, and trade, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on Instagram. Valfre’s works combine “unconventional female characters” with a mixture of retro and modern sensibilities.

Not deterred by the decline in the value of cryptocurrency in recent weeks, along with a drop in sales volumes of digital collectibles, the talent company continues to show its support and interest in adding top Web3 creators to its platforms.

It is worth noting that the firm represents some of Hollywood’s top stars, like Dwayne Johnson (The Rock), Alicia Keys, and Charlize Theron.

Among its portfolio of Web3 artists and collectibles are Bright Moments, Boss Beauties, and Non-fungible Heroes. According to previous reports, WME recently signed the co-founder of Dapper Labs, Mack Flavelle.

The Meta-owned social media platform recently announced that it was launching a digital collections space (an NFT marketplace). The announcement became another major milestone for the crypto industry as it aimed to expand digital asset ownership to a much larger consumer base.

Interestingly, Meta’s move also coincides with Twitter and Reddit’s drive to make NFT more mainstream by bringing it closer to users. However, the Instagram trial program will use the Polygon blockchain ecosystem, which debuted with some selected US-based artists such as Valfre’.

Meanwhile, Instagram has announced that there will be zero fees on any NFT transactions until 2024.

Valfre’s Journey into NFT

The Mexican-born NFT artist removes the misconception about NFTs through her several art pieces. Having dropped a 600-piece collectible of hand-made digital art pieces, Valfre’ has shown that there is no stopping her.

She continues to set the pace for the expansion of NFT in the mainstream. Despite not growing up in an artistic background, her first breakthrough began during the Web 2.0 era.

During that era, she shared some of her works on the online art gallery Tumblr. This was before the emergence of the digital art space.

The mainstream internet was still evolving into what it had become. Since then, the creator has utilized the opportunities to make more money by developing clothing, prints, and other products depicting her works.

However, she previously disclosed that her childhood influenced her journey as a female Mexican artist. Thus, she infused stories of her heritage into her art pieces by crafting and depicting Mexican realities.

Her entry into the world of NFT begins another phase to fame for the burgeoning artist, with her NFTs sold for 123 ETH, approximately $2,320.

According to her, NFTs are about adding value, and artists can use blockchain technology to put their works directly in front of fans, building a beloved community in the process.
