Brian Armstrong, the CEO of the top cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has said in a recent tweet on August 23, 2020, that the American multinational technology company Apple has shown very hostile and restrictive behavior to cryptocurrency for over the course of the last few years. He says that the company has imposed various restrictions related to cryptocurrency which makes its behavior hostile towards the digital currency sector.

Apple is being restrictive and hostile to cryptocurrency

While clarifying his point of view in the tweet, Brain Armstrong said that Apple is still continuing its hostile behavior towards cryptocurrency as the Coinbase CEO says that it is going to block the cryptocurrency exchange’s Coinbase Earn platform which lets users earn rewards in cryptocurrency by learning about it.

Coinbase CEO stated:

“Apple has been very restrictive and hostile to cryptocurrency over the years. They’re still blocking some functionality right now, including the ability to earn money with cryptocurrency by completing tasks, and unrestricted dapp browsers.”

Coinbase Earn is an earning platform that was launched by the cryptocurrency exchange. It allows users to earn cryptocurrency rewards on learning about cryptocurrency simply by watching videos and solving quizzes. Coinbase CEO says that the company Apple now wants to block this earning platform.

It seems that there is a long history of hostility that the company Apple has shown so far. The major cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase said that for complying with the rules of AppStore, the company removed the functionality of the dApp browser from its application back in the month of December. Due to this, Apple users were unable to use dApps and this was really unfortunate said Armstrong.

“This is an important area of innovation in finance, and many developers and early adopters of this technology have millions of dollars worth of crypto tied up in these financial applications, which they will no longer be able to use on Apple mobile devices if this app store policy continues.”
