Albany Airport Unveils Wellness Trace App To Ensure Prompt Obedience Of COVID-19 Guidelines

The New York airport has announced that it will introduce a blockchain-backed app that will track cleanliness and ensure citizens follow COVID-19 protocols.

With the global community still looking for measures to combat noncompliance with COVID-19 protocols, the travel industry has witnessed its fair share of challenges in making people follow the guidelines. With various travel centers still trying to fully return to normal activities, the threat of contracting the virus remains high in these places. The travel centers have doubled up work to ensure that the rate of contraction at the centers is minimal through the deep cleaning services and issuance of guidelines to travelers.

Wellness Trace app will help travelers familiarize themselves with cleaning schedules around airports

Albany airport has announced that it has a new blockchain-backed app that will help travelers going in and out of the region to familiarise themselves with the cleaning schedule of places around the airport. In the airport’s official statement, the new app, Wellness Trace app, was launched through its partnership with General Electric.

With this new app, travelers going in and out of the airport will check the cleanliness of the core facilities inside the airport. The app is embedded with a QR code scanner, which would allow travelers to track the cleaning of restaurants, shops, and other core areas within the airport in real-time.

Albany airport agrees to a three-month trial phase of the app

According to the developers, the app’s main function is to check the COVID-19 screening schedule around various airlines. The app also allows users to check the cleaning schedule and when public areas around different airports will be disinfected.

Furthermore, the developers further announced that its first customer on the Blockchain powered app is the Albany airport. The app was created to mirror Maze and TripAdvisor; the apps provide travelers with real-time COVID-19 updates and a sneak peek into how healthy the area they are traveling through is. Albany airport has negotiated a three-month trial phase where the app will monitor cleaning and sanitation schedules around the airport.

To provide users with up to date information, the airport has announced that it has almost 45 barcodes to validate each vital area around the airport. In his assessment, the digital Group General Manager of GE Aviation, Andrew Coleman, has said that this new app will reduce the risk that people often get exposed to around the airport and help people familiarise themselves with the latest screening schedule in the airport.
