Encrypted Messaging App Signal To Begin Accepting BTC And ETH Donations

Cryptocurrency users can rejoice as the encrypted messaging application Signal recently began accepting donations for 12 different cryptocurrencies, including both Ethereum and Bitcoin. Users of the application can show their support for Signal by utilizing its services whilst also choosing whichever cryptocurrency they feel most comfortable with. This decision by Signal had only arrived just yesterday and has already managed to make headlines around the digital trading world.

“We depend on your support”, Signal wrote

The decision to allow users to make donations in cryptocurrency was largely motivated by an attempt to garner support for the Signal Technology Foundation. This, of course, refers to the non-profit organization responsible for funding the application.

Representatives of Signal also stated that they are well aware of the interest in being able to make donations using Bitcoin or Ether, and as such, our customers will no longer have to sit around and wait for that to happen. As of now, you will no longer have any need to hold back your support and generosity, as our success is dependent on your continued support, said the representatives.

Bitcoin and Ether just two of many cryptocurrencies now available

As aforementioned, both BTC and ETH are two of the total 12 cryptocurrencies available on Signal. Users can, of course, make donations through the two we just mentioned, but they also have the choice of Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Zcash, Gemini Dollar Stablecoin, Chainlink and Basic Attention Token. In addition to providing this abundance of choice, Signal also made it clear that they will be accepting anonymous donations, which only added to their popularity.

Ultimately, as Signal provides end to end encryption for its cross-platform messaging, it is still nevertheless in a relative ‘testing phase’ when it comes to its new service. Casey Newton reported earlier in January of this year that Signal is still testing out its new potential payment features and has since utilized MobileCoin for this purpose as well.

MobileCoin is a private coin platform that is backed by Binance, and Moxie Marlinspike, the CEO of Signal, is also currently serving as an advisor for this very platform.
