Mexican Senator Wants To Push BTC Adoption as a Legal Tender

Seeing how El Salvador has managed to boost its GDP to incredible levels, a Mexican Senator is now working to push the legalization of Bitcoin.

Mexican Senator, Indira Kempis is reportedly going to utilize her political position and propose a new cryptocurrency-based law to the congress, in order to push the Mexican government in legalizing Bitcoin in the region. Kempis is hoping to present the new law in Congress sessions scheduled this year with her main objective being to gain most votes regarding financial inclusion and making it as a constitutional right. Kempis said that this might take quite a while to process, but if we manage to bring Bitcoin into play, then we cannot go back.

Kempis Impressed by El Salvador

Kempis had recently visited the region of El Salvador and was quite impressed on how El Salvador used Bitcoin to revolutionize their complete ecosystem, bringing it to newer levels. However, she thinks that the legalization of Bitcoin in El Salvador is still in the experimental phase.

Referring to the text above, Senator Kempis was really impressed with how the government of El Salvador has managed to pick itself up, previously suffering from issues such as, migrations, brutality and criminal activities, especially mentioning President Nayib Bukele’s work in taking full advantage of the power that cryptocurrencies hold. Kempis stated that legalizing Bitcoin has led to an even “playing field for people who are excluded in all countries”.

Financial Inclusion

After experiencing what El Salvador has accomplished and as mentioned above, Senator Kempis will now be moving forward towards presenting a new cryptocurrency-based law to the congress of Mexico, promoting the legalization of Bitcoin in the country. Senator Kempis stated that Bitcoin should become legalized in Mexico and if Mexico does not act like how El Salvador did, then it will become very challenging in the future.

The senator’s main stimulus towards bringing this law comes from the issue of financial exclusion that is still faced by many Mexican Citizens. Kempis stated about this matter, saying that the issue of “financial exclusion is one of the problems” that only some of us has focused on solving. Senator Kempis has always believed that financial inclusion is a common right and inclusion already has legal basis that can be used to fuel its promotion.
