The China-based internet giant called Baidu does not suppose to launch the metaverse application thereof named XiRang on a full-scale even though the earliest of the application would be debuted on Monday, as per a prominent executive. Ma Jie – the vice president of Baidu – considers that even now six years are remaining before the complete launch of XiRang, according to a report of CNBC. He stated that the application’s development was initiated in 2020’s December.

Ma referred to the upcoming yearly occasion of developers under Baidu called Create 2021 in which the firm endorses the initial Chinese conference that would be hosted via XiRang in the space of metaverse. The application will supposedly handle more than 100,000 virtual participants having communication with each other while utilizing metaverse avatars during the conference that would span over three days beginning on Monday.

It was noted by the executive that Baidu aims to develop an open-source venue aiming at the developers of metaverse to provide a construction infrastructure within the digital space. Notwithstanding the focus on the virtual infrastructure, the metaverse application of Baidu will not have support for the trading assets dealing with virtual property or digital currencies, as mentioned by Ma, notwithstanding XiRang’s utilization of fundamental technologies analogous to the blockchain. The strategy is per the renewed prohibition of Chinese authorities over cryptocurrencies, which was declared in recent September.

Among the largest search engine firms around China is Baidu which has formally stepped into the industry of metaverse via its filing for the ‘metapp’ named trademark this October. The venue, after that, issued the initial metaverse application thereof called XiRang which is translated to be the “Land of Hope.” The application’s initial had become available for the consumers during the early phase of November.

Baidu does not count to be the single venue across China that has aggressively constructed metaverse technology.
