Changpeng Zhao – the Binance CEO – has warned the customers of the exchange regarding an enormous phishing scam targeting the customers of the company. The scam of the biggest crypto exchange across the world is misleading the consumers to a malicious site to steal the credentials thereof. The CEO shared a Twitter post on Friday describing the huge phishing scam through the SMS with the provision of a link asking to cancel the withdrawals. The consumers, when they opt for that link, are taken to a website where their credentials are deceptively taken.

Consumers are advised not to be misled by such SMS-based traps. The respective tweet additionally persuaded customers to always visit the official website of Binance through a bookmark or else by manually typing the address thereof on the address bar of the browser. This is the way, he added, by which the users of the exchange can protect the credentials thereof.  Apart from that, the tweet contained a screenshot showing a text message aiming at the Binance consumers. The respective text message seems to be sent from the respective exchange however comprises a fraudulent link.

Phishing and Binance

By clicking the link, a malicious website opens and obtains the users’ credentials to take their funds away. In addition to this, the message contained in the screenshot includes a request for withdrawal from a fraudulent IP address. If a consumer clicks on the respective link, it will be followed by some steps assisting in canceling the withdrawal request. Nevertheless, on selecting that link, the credentials of the consumers will be taken by the deceptive website. It is even now ambiguous if this phishing is exclusively aimed at the consumers of Binance because they are the sole affected ones according to the known data.

The scams continue with no blockage in the way

It is for sure that the rest of the venues are also included in the target list of phishing scams. Several Binance consumers have been trapped by the latest phishing scam without being disclosed.
