The Cardano Foundation thinks that blockchain technology has the potential to be a game-changer in the future. “Bug Bounty” is a program created by the Foundation to reward hackers who find weaknesses in the platform’s blockchain and make it more secure and accessible to the general public. It was announced in a blog post that the Swiss-based, Cardano-focused non-profit was partnering with vulnerability management company HackerOne to uncover cyber security vulnerabilities.
“To guarantee that Cardano’s network is as reliable and safe as feasible, our combined Bug Bounty program will leverage HackerOne’s security experts and meticulous processes in the coming months, in partnership with the Cardano Foundation. If any performance problems are identified in the Cardano source, they will be investigated to see if they constitute a major weakness or a possible attack on Cardano’s key elements. Ethical hackers are motivated to identify weaknesses and appropriately disclose them so they may be patched before severe harm is done by bug reward programs.”
On HackerOne, the incentives for revealing each Cardano bug vary from $300 to $10,000, based on the intensity of the flaw. As the Cardano Foundation points out, people “ethical hackers” are better than machine security software when it comes to discovering blockchain issues.
It is a known fact that “no institution is immune to security holes.” There’s just one way to stop hackers from taking advantage of them: discover them and repair them. When ethical hackers think imaginatively and discover areas where defects may be ‘linked’ together to create an attack, they can locate weaknesses that robot scans overlook.
Program Regulations
Give thorough findings with replicable procedures, if at all possible. The problem will not be considered for a prize if the report is not thorough enough to replicate the issue. One weakness per report unless you need to link issues together in a chain for maximum impact
The first entry received in the event of duplication is the only one that is awarded (provided that it can be fully reproduced). For several flaws triggered by the same underlying problem, one bounty will be paid for all of the issues.
Social engineering (e.g., phishing, vishing, smishing) is forbidden. Avoid privacy breaches, data loss, and disruption or deterioration of our service in a good faith attempt. Interact only with profiles that you own or with the specific consent of the account holder’s account holder. It is mandatory to execute all applications within the boundaries of this program on a “test network.” A hacker is banned from connecting to any additional nodes. Funds for the testnet can be collected from the faucet, but they should be utilized cautiously because they are limited.
“Last, Vital stage” for Cardano
As per Input Output Hong Kong, Cardano is entering the “last, vital stage” of its smart contract deployment when it conducts the stress-testing of its network (IOHK). Cardano’s blockchain will be formally upgraded on September 12th, according to IOHK.
“Our final inspections and debugging will be performed in a controlled setting over the next few days to verify that we’re ready to update the major Cardano system. A new age of smart contracts is about to begin.”
